This pattern is from Ellen and it is originally from Jan. I did a little square to test it out and is quick to do.

Using the appropriate sized hook for the yarn used
Row 1: Chain 6, work 1 treble each in 4th, 5 th,and 6th chain from hook( 3 tr in total) . 1 motif completed. Turn, ( the first 3 ch are called a "post", and are used to go over( around) by the treble in the second motif in row 2)

Row 2: Chain 6, work 1 treble in each of 4th, 5th and 6 th chains from hook, slip stitch (sl st) in top of chain -3 of 1st motif, ch 3, work 3 treble over post of ch-3 of first motif. 2 motifs completed. Turn

Row3: Chain 6 , work 1 treble each in 4th, 5 th and 6 th chain from hook, sl st in top of ch-3 on Row 2 of motifs, ch3, 3 tr over post of ch-3, sl st in top of next ch-3, ch3, 3 tr over post of ch3. 3 motifs completed. Turn.
Continue in this stepwise manner, until width desired.
To decrease,
After last ch-3, 3ch, 3 tr in ch-3 post, * sl st in top of next ch-3, ch3, 3 tr in ch-3 post;repeat from* across end sl st in top of next ch-3.
( you will work out what to do when you come to making the rows smaller, it seems to be self evident! )
