Man's shirt

I am using Kannik's Korner pattern KK-4102., Man's shirt 1790-1830. It is rectangular cutting...etc. I did a smock

with similar technique. It recommended to cut the cloth by the thread which is the best way to do. First, need to find out what size it is. According to the chart, I need about 4 yards of fabric. In the meantime, I can measure all rectangles and squares for the relevant size. I found some fabric I already have but not as much as 4 yds. I am thinking, maybe I can adjust the pattern in a way so to make the fabric I have enough for the shirt.
